Had an exceptional dining experience at Vrede en Lust! The roast fillet was out of this world and melted in my mouth. The chick pea salad was delicious. Service was top-notch - speedy and with a smile. Highly recommend!

The Lust Bistro at Vrede en Lust is well worth a visit. My wife and I had a busy morning in Cape Town with no time to eat before setting off to Franschhoek to celebrate our anniversary. We decided to pop in and sample the deli menu on route. Allowing us time to disengage from the pressures of our daily hustle and delight in the tranquility of the Winelands. Worth mentioning, we had visited the inviting bakery table in the past, but this was our chance to dine, and we were expectant. We were welcomed by friendly staff (a wonderful example of South African hospitality), into an earthy oasis of hardwoods and modern finishes, complete with a roaring fire, think ‘modern farmhouse’ affair. The menu was scrumptious, with a variety of options to satisfy most appetites, from breakfasts to burgers, tapas to à la carte, including a kiddies menu and pizza. Our interest was in the daily blackboard tapas specials that are great for sharing, where we opted for Pancetta Wrapped Prawns on rocket with an aioli of sorts, and finely chopped Mushrooms on Puff pastry with Parmesan. Both were mouth watering, bursting with flavour, we opted for a bottle of 2021 Vrede en Lust, White Mischief (Elgin white blend), that paired beautifully with both of these light meals. The wine worked so well, I popped over to the winery to grab a few bottles, and noticed they have a lovely tapas & wine pairing menu, triggering another visit into the tasting room, that never fails, especially in summer!
